Highway Africa delegates were wooed by Barclays’ charm and amazing hospitality at the dinner hosted on Sunday night at the Settler’s Monument. Barclays representative Tshiwela Mhlantla said that the bank seeks to play a big role in supporting African media and the road to democratic consolidation across the continent.

Sunday’s lunch was catered by Telkom, allowing the delegates to unwind, reflect on the topics and network. Telkom is the conference’s founding sponsor, and has been loyal to the Highway Africans for the past 17years.

The heart of the conference activities kicked off yesterday with a plenary session opened by Dr Sizwe Mabizela, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Rhodes University. Keynote speaker, Director Peter Horrocks from the BBC talked about what needed to be fixed in the realm of ethics and the media. The plenary sessions were followed by a luncheon hosted by founding sponsors Telkom.
